Hey ex-campers!

Thanks again for participating one way or another in the first ever Camp Hyrule on Tumblr!

We’d like to make CH 2k13 an even better experience so if you have any ideas feel free to suggest them either in this post here or sending an Ask.

And yes, getting a more stable and accessible chatroom for next year is already a priority.

So if there was more of a certain activity you wanted to see more often or an activity you wanted to see in general or any places where you felt we could use improvement go ahead and shoot.

What would you like to see to make Camp Hyrule 2013 a better experience?

Camp Hyrule 2k12 Wrap-Up

Hello everyone! The first Camp Hyrule on Tumblr is over and despite some rough patches we feel it was a success.

But first let’s get the final scoreboard out of the way. Now, I noticed a few of you sent in an e-reader for books to the Bingo. The space actually meant Nintendo’s GBA add-on but I’ll let that one slide.

Anyhow, included in the final leaderboard are the cabin superstars, basically the camper or campers who earned the most points for their cabin.

C.G.M.C.S.D.S.G (Cabin 4): 135,500 coins
Cabin 4 Superstar: hndrewaussie

George Harrison’s Feisty Fiscals (Cabin 1): 92,000 coins
Cabin 1 Superstar: zanreosauce

Airbound Oracles (Cabin 5): 87,000 coins
Cabin 5 Superstars: slowkingcole & notoriousantagonist

Tingle’s Rosy RupeeCabin (Cabin 3): 79,000 coins
Cabin 3 Superstar: shoutyfool

Rhythm Cabin Fever (Cabin 2): 77,500 coins
Cabin 2 Superstar: fuzzlekins

Congrats Cabin 4!

Your reward is the sense of accomplishment that you were the top dogs at a fan revival of a virtual camp half-hosted on a blogging site. Enjoy!

A big thanks to all of you for participating in this event!

Thanks to the counselors for taking on that kind of responsibility in the first place

Thanks to the Amphitheater crew for taking the time to answer burning questions

Thanks to all the people who participated in the activities

Thanks to anyone who signed up in the first place, even if you all you did was sat in the sidelines and watched or didn’t get a cabin assignment or couldn’t get into the chatroom, I absolutely appreciate that you chose to give it a shot in the first place

Thanks to our awesome Tech Support Guy Falxix who helped get the chatrooms setup

Thanks to Nintendo for, even though they disbanded it, holding Camp Hyrule in the first place

If you want to keep up to date on Camp Hyrule 2k13 then you can keep following this blog or follow my blog or if you’d rather not do either of those things, track the Camp Hyrule tag because it’s bound to show up in there.

Have a great year everybody and we’ll see you next year at Camp Hyrule 2013!

2k12 Camp Hyrule: TRADING POST ACTIVITY: Puzzle House Password Puzzle → camphyrule2k12.tumblr.com

camphyrule2k12:

camphyrule2k12:

In our morning announcements we mentioned a new location in camp, the mysterious Puzzle House. We also mentioned the place is locked down and only a select few who know the password can get in.

“But what could the password even be?” you cry, worried that you won’t get to explore every last inch of the campground.

We managed to find this piece of paper taped to the door. We figure this ought to be some kind of hint at any rate.

image

Think you know the answer? If you figured it out test it by entering the chatroom, then type /join #ch2k12puzzlehouse thepassword

And hey if you got it, drop it in to your cabin’s submission box! You’ll earn 2,000 picarats coins for your cabin if it’s the right answer.

Updated with another hint!

Row A and Row B are solved differently. First figure out what you must do to row A for row B to make sense.

Ok let’s see if this hint will help.

You can count on Row A to help you solve Row B

Hello Campers!

Welcome to the final day of Camp Hyrule!

It turns out that small golden cloud from a few days ago was just the start. A whole storm of them came out last night and covered the whole camp with coins!

It took us awhile to dig our way here an announce what you obviously already saw when you woke up from your tents but we feel it was worth it anyway.

Get it? Worth it? Ahahahaha!

Anyway campers, you should stop by the bonfire at 5pm PDT/8pm EDT for the end of camp ceremonies!

Hey campers!

It’s Day 6 of Camp Hyrule!

This morning we decided to do something about that unsightly group of brambles next to the Amphitheater.

Turns out it was covering up a house with a puzzle piece on it!

However, this new mystery building is also locked. Maybe it requires a password much like your cabin?

We’ll update you with any new developments regarding this place fit for a Puzzle Master.

For now, enjoy your penultimate day of camp!

Face Paint #4!

It’s a new day and a new counselor!

All you have to do is take the photo, decorate it with any program you like and then submit it! Submit it to your Cabin using the Submission Box and send all entries by 10 AM PDT/1 PM EDT August 12.

Today’s “volunteer” is Cabin 2’s Counselor Cat! He seems to be preparing himself to clean up the bathrooms in the WiiU Headquarters. Anything for a new console, right?

image

Just by participating in decorating this photo you will earn 3,000 coins for your cabin.

What’s that song? Send it in to your cabin by 10am PDT/1pm EDT on Sunday and you’ll get 1,000 coins for your cabin if it’s right!

Hi Campers!

Welcome to Day 5 of Camp Hyrule!

Annoyed by our inability to access that little island in the lower left, your counselors and I ripped down some of the trees in the Lost Woods with our bare hands and used the material to make a bridge.

We finally took down that tarp (you did know that was a tarp right?) and unveiled Pushmo Park!

And evidently Luigi’s Mansion was hiding in the Lost Woods. What a pleasant surprise, two new chatrooms to mess around in!

Stay tuned for today’s activities!

Connecting to chat: Other options

4londe created a guide to help people still having trouble getting into our chatroom

We know a lot of people have had trouble connecting to the chat room this year, and the counselors want to apologize for all the inconvenience it has caused. However, we have learned that those who are connecting to the IRC server from outside clients seem to be having more success. In response, we have created this guide to connecting from outside of the webpage.

Option 1: Mibbit

Mibbit is also web-based, but some have stated they have had more success with it. At the very least, it is a viable backup. Also it is relatively easy to connect to. So there’s that.

First, go to Mibbit’s Chat Client.

image

Go to the middle box where it says Connect. Select Rizon [webirc] from the drop down box. Below it, enter your preferred nickname beside where it says Nick. Beside where it says Channel, enter your preferred channel (i.e. #ch2k12bonfire). If you wish to enter multiple channels at once, separate them with a comma (#ch2k12bonfire,#ch2k12lostwoods). Finally, click the button that says Connect.

Option 2: Pidgin

If you have not already, download Pidgin.

image

Once it’s installed and opened (guide to installing here), hit Ctrl and A to open up a box that says Accounts. Below it, choose the option that says Add.

image

A box titled Add Account should appear. Stay on the Basic tab, and click the box to the right of where it says Protocol. Select IRC from the drop down box. Once again, put your preferred nickname in the Username section and put irc.cyberdynesystems.net in the Server section. Afterward, click Add.

image

Pidgin should now automatically connect you to our server.

Option 3: mIRC

mIRC can be downloaded for free here. For basic instructions on how to use it, go to Getting started with mIRC.

image

Now, once you’ve got down the basics, you’ll want to open mIRC. What should happen is that a box will pop up titled mIRC Options. On the left side of that box should be a list named Category. Within that list, click Servers. On the right side, another list should pop up, this one named IRC Servers. To the right of that should be a column of buttons. Click the one that says Add.

image

A new box should have come up, one named Add Server. It contains a series of spaces to fill in. Next to Description, just put in a name that you’ll remember. Camp Hyrule 2k12, something along those lines. Below that it should say IRC Server. Here’s where you should paste irc.cyberdynesystems.net, exactly like that. Leave everything else blank, then click Add at the bottom of the box.

image

Once the box has closed, select the name you just entered (possibly Camp Hyrule 2k12) from the list of IRC Servers in the mIRC Options box. It will likely be at the bottom. Now select Connect, the first option on the list on the left named Category. Put in your nickname and any other information you want. Finally, click Connect down below and you should be connected with us.

Do let us know if you are still having trouble or have found another option that works better.

TRADING POST ACTIVITY: Camp Hyrule Bingo

image

Hey campers!

We thought we’d try something really exciting, Camp Hyrule Bingo!

Here’s the way it works:

  • You fill up the squares by taking pictures around the house. So for Square A-1 if you have an imported Nintendo game, take a picture of an Imported Nintendo game and send it in.
  • Some squares require more than one thing. Let’s look at Square C-1. If you only have a regular a GBA take a pic of that and send it in. Your fellow cabinmates can take a picture of an SP and a Micro to help finish the square. Working together is the key!
  • Complete a square to score 1,000 coins. Complete a whole row or column of four to score 4,000 coins. If you send in something to an already completed square, you’ll get 500 coins.
  • Make sure you include a piece of paper with your cabin number in the photo. How else are we gonna know you didnt just us Google Images?

You have until 10am PDT/1pm EDT on Sunday to get your submissions in!

TRADING POST ACTIVITY: Kitty's Recipe

Does Counselor Kitty’s recipe for Question Mark Block Brownies look delicious? Are you hungry enough to cook them on your own?

If you do bake these brownies, take a picture of them with a piece of paper with your cabin # on it. Send it to your Cabin’s Submission Box by 10am PDT/1pm EDT on Sunday

You will earn 10,000 coins for your cabin by participating in this activity!
